The
New York Rangers have announced the signings of two key members of
the Binghamton Rangers’ 1991 American League Southern Division
champions.
Center
Brain McReynolds and defenseman Mike Hurlbut have signed new deals
and would be likely to return to New York’s AHL affiliate in
Binghamton.
McReynolds,
27, was second on the team in scoring with 19 goals and 28 assists
when he suffered a broken ankle in his 48th game, Feb. 8
at Adirondack. He did
not return until April 24, the opening game of the Rangers’
second-round playoff series with Rochester.
McReyolds
was Binghamton’s second-leading scorer with 30 goals and 42
assists in 1990-91.
Hurlbut,
25, is coming off his third and best season in the Rangers’
organization. He had 16
goals and 39 assists for 55 points—fifth highest among AHL
defensemen.
Hurlbut
also played 79 regular season games, sitting out the 80th
with many veterans to prepare for playoffs.
He had one goal and eight assists in Binghamton’s 11
playoff games.
Other
Binghamton players officially under contract so far with New York
Rangers for the coming season include goalie Boris Rousson; forwards
Don Biggs, Steven King, Daniel Lacroix, Rick Bennett and Jason
Prosofsky, and defensemen Peter Fiorentino and John Mokosak.
